Today we launched a few small updates to the Reminder Settings and the billQ Widgets (both the OS X Dashboard widget and the AIR app).

New Reminder Settings

New Reminder SettingsIf you go to your Reminders tab you will notice a slightly different format for the Reminder frequency setting. The format is different because we have added a new option. You now have the ability to receive reminders the day that bill is due. We added this option because some people may not need the reminder until the day the bill is due. Everyone is a little different when it comes to paying their bills, and if you're someone who doesn't need a lot of time to get your finances in line in order to pay a bill, you can just get your reminder on the due date, pay the bill, and then be done. This way, the reminders themselves don't become annoying.

billQ Widget Updates

The next update concerns the widgets. If you launch your billQ Dashboard widget, or your billQ AIR app, you will receive a notice explaining that you need to upgrade. You can get the latest files on the Widgets page, or from the Tools section within billQ.

The upgrade for the billQ Dashboard widget fixes a few bugs. One of the major bugs being a problem that occurred when editing the amount of a bill from within the widget. Sometimes this would create a duplicate bill, and if you tried marking the bill as paid right after editing the amount, it would cause even more errors. This should all be fixed with the latest update.

As far as the billQ AIR app goes, we also fixed a few lingering bugs, but the major update relates to auto-syncing. A lot of people who use the AIR leave it open for long periods of time; and since some people share a billQ account with family members, and even more people have shared expenses with other billQ members, the billQ AIR app could get out of sync with the changes made within billQ. This problem should now be fixed as the billQ AIR app now auto-refreshes periodically in order to check for changes. This way, if someone changes an amount from within billQ, the AIR should detect those changes the next time it refreshes (currently every 5 minutes).

We hope these updates fix any bugs that people have been running into, and hopefully the refined Reminder Settings make billQ even more useful. If anyone has any comments or concerns with this round of updates, let us know.
